Wedding Registry - November 27, 2009
Got the registries online this afternoon. We spent two evenings in stores and another evening editing and adding information. The lesson learned is to select items at every price point and in multiples. I can honestly say I have never looked at formal place settings or the intricacies of mix-n-match bedding ensembles before. Both of us were really good at decisions and compromise. Only once did we have to be separated by the staff at Crate & Barrel.
Memory Monday #4 - The Game of Life
As a child, my mom and brothers and I would sit around the table or on the living room floor and play “Life” for what seemed like forever. I’m wondering what I received for getting married (besides a pink lady peg for the car). Was it money? stocks? one step closer to the poor house?
This is my niece. I photographed her at the end of a very long wedding day. In addition to flower girl and ballerina duties, she, evidently, won the centerpiece. I was asked the other day how I was going to handle not being able to photograph my own wedding. I’m not sure but I imagine a lot of research to find the person who will photograph it is in my future. That and keeping my Nikon point-n-shoot in my pocket.

I definitely like the idea of color for a formal affair. Put a green tie with this and I’m all set.

Wednesday, November 18 - Sifting for Ideas
Started looking through mags to get ideas for the ceremony. I’m not a ‘journal’ person so scribblings and arrows will have to do. That and remembering to come back when the time arrives.

Spent the weekend in VT at the Wilder Farm Inn B&B. Inkeeper Luke has a pottery studio out back (pictured).
We visited sites that we recommended to family and friends on the Save the Date cards to make sure they were good. Perhaps we should have done that first but they all looked better in person than their web pics. Our reservations contact, Katy, has done a great job assisting us with places and getting folks into them.
We also added more info on our wedding website.
ME does not become the 5th state to legalize same-sex marriage
excerpted from Protect Maine Equality
Yesterday, hundreds of thousands of Maine voters stood for equality, but in the end, it wasn’t enough.
I am proud of the thousands of Mainers who knocked on doors, made phone calls and talked to their family, friends and neighbors about the basic premise of treating all Maine families equally.
